Terms and Conditions of Service

These terms cover your use of the Drupal Steady website and the scanner it provides. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the site.

We are Drupal Steady ("we", "us", "our"). We help site owners move older Drupal sites onto a current, supported version.

What we offer here

This website does two main things: it runs a scanner that tries to detect which version of Drupal a given site is running, and it lets you contact us about a possible migration project. Nothing on this site is a binding offer of work — any actual migration project is agreed separately, in writing, between you and us.

Using the scanner

The scanner is provided for your own, lawful use. When you run it, you're telling us you have a legitimate reason to check the address you've entered — for example, it's your own site, or you have permission to assess it.

You agree not to:

  • use the scanner against sites you don't own or aren't authorised to test;
  • run it in a way designed to overload, disrupt, or probe a target beyond a simple version check;
  • try to get around the rate limits, automate bulk scans, or otherwise abuse the service; or
  • use the scanner as part of any attack, reconnaissance for one, or any other unlawful activity.

The scanner only reads information a site already makes public. It doesn't log in, reach private areas, or pull site content. Even so, how you use the result is your responsibility.

Accuracy — no guarantees

The scanner makes its best guess from public signals, and those signals can be hidden, altered, cached, or simply absent. So the version it reports may be wrong, out of date, or inconclusive. Treat the result as a helpful indication, not a definitive audit. Don't rely on it as your sole basis for a security or upgrade decision. We give no warranty that the scanner, or anything else on this site, is accurate, complete, or continuously available.

Availability

We try to keep the site up and working, but we don't promise uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of it — including the scanner — at any time, without notice.

Your enquiries

When you contact us through the form, please give accurate information and don't send anything unlawful, abusive, or that isn't yours to share. We handle what you send under our Privacy Policy. Sending an enquiry doesn't create any obligation on our part to take on your project.

Intellectual property

The content, design, and code of this website are ours, or used by us with permission, and are protected by law. You may use the site for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, republish, or reuse its content without our agreement. The scan result for your own site is, of course, yours to use as you see fit.

Our liability

We provide this website and scanner "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or reliance on the scanner — including any decision made, or not made, on the strength of a scan result.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that can't be limited or excluded under law — for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you deal with us as a consumer, these terms don't affect your statutory rights.

Your responsibility to us

If your misuse of the site — for example, scanning sites you weren't allowed to — causes us loss, or leads to a claim against us, you agree to be responsible for that.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always the one on this page, and the "last updated" date in the page header shows when it last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you're a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may instead bring proceedings in your own home nation's courts.
